The Story of Life and Water and where you are...
WAVES...
Which stills the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people. Psalms 65:7
WAVES, they affect our lives everyday and in ways you probably never thought of. Starting with your heart rate, brain waves, sound waves, life experiences, emotions, love, and the list goes on. They all share the same characteristic, the up and down motions, just like the waves of the ocean!
So simple, yet so complex, just like the tranquil, teal-blue ocean, or the deep, dark, cold sea. You can't escape the waves. They affect us in so many ways and can appear as waves of triumph or waves of tragedy. They can't be anticipated or prevented although you may have glimpses of them starting to form. They can overtake you and overwhelm you, then what do you do? You make the choice to surf or drown. If you choose to fight them, you may find yourself flailing about helplessly in a sea of uncertainty and strong currents that will take you in directions you never dreamed of.
If you choose to surf you will need something to steady yourself as you're tossed about wave by wave. You need something solid to cling to that will help you get through the rough waters of life. Something that helps keep your head above water and prevents you from sinking. Positive thoughts can create buoyancy and prevent you from sinking into the depths of depression, sadness, despair, addiction, or whatever it is that weighs you down.
In life, we can't predict when a wave will hit. One minute everything is calm and peaceful, the next it's a turbulent storm that tosses us around leaving us gasping for answers in a chaotic state of confusion. Your brain cries out for oxygen. But only your breath can create the bubble of presence capable of floating you to the light. This is what you have to rely on as you seek to surface.
As a surfer it all comes down to training, skill and of course overcoming fear. We call it "charging" in the surfer world. It all depends on the way you prepare, react and what you're holding on to. Life Jacket? You are just buying some time. A surfboard with a leash attached to your leg? .....Now we are talking!!

I am honored you are here on this site sharing my vision and creative drea. I am deeply grateful.
So I say first, “Thank you.”
I was born and raised in Maryland near Chesapeake Bay and Ocean City where I fell in love with the water. Soon after surfing would become the meeting place between my spirit and the ocean. To this day my love for the ocean and all its many mysteries remain a part of my soul expression.
In 2001, inspired by my passion for the ocean my family and I made the bold decision to move to Cocoa Beach, FL. where as a 12 year old boy I would visit my Dad after his divorce from my mother. My desire to return to the place I loved as a boy had become a reality. There I specialized in the sign artist field applying custom lettering, graphics and murals on many diverse projects. My art can be found on the Shuttle Launch Pad, restaurants, yachts, sports cars, planes and helicopters flying over Cocoa Beach.
Since Cocoa Beach, Life has been full of adventure and I have been blessed to experience many more magnificent locations that also spoke to my soul, like Hawaii where I am honored to have one of the largest murals painted at Sunset Beach Christian Church on the North Shore of Oahu, other locations are in Central America.
These are the experiences I now express on the canvases I paint.
Expressing my experiences in my artwork is now a new adventure of life. I hope you enjoy it with me as you enjoy the paintings that have been put on my heart to reflect the beautiful, yet trial-sum life that we all go through.
If we just stop and be still for just one breath and reflect on what is happening or what has happened we can measure our growth by the impact of the wave. We all get hit with waves in life and there is no hiding from a storm in the distance. Simply put, I tackle the “why” questions in life and face them through my artwork. My purpose is now to share this acceptance, strength, and understanding with others and to encourage you to surf truthfully in spirit, in life, and yes, maybe even in the water too!
Since I ventured out with my first public painting a couple of years back as it was presented at the National Kidney Surf Contest 2012 in Cocoa Beach. I did a painting dedicated to Rich Salick in honor of his achievements in saving many lives by donating his kidneys and encouraging others to do likewise. The painting was drew attention too Dan Mack’in which encouraged me to follow through with more artwork as it was one of the highest bided pieces of art at the show. Dan works with Wyland Galleries in Hawaii but resides in West Palm Florida. After such encouragement I decided to step forward and do more paintings!
This adventure in art is a new sunrise in my life and revealing myself to the art world the last few years has been extremely enjoyable as my work has brought many tears with smiles.
I recently have painted new pieces of artwork imbedded with strong colors. My originals, through special technics, can never be duplicated even by me, as drying times, conditions and certain mediums all come together to create a special effect that can not be repeated. They exemplify the extremes of Life’s trials and victories through nature.
In my deepest motivation in my paintings, I pray you discover the hidden beauty in nature, waves and the oceans. My paintings are surreal and soul impacting and as you will discover, the sea speaks to your inner soul in ways you never imagined.
Come and adventure with me as we drop into the depths with color on a surfing experience you never knew you were on, and as you discover the “Wave that Never Dies,” my hope is you are empowered to rise towards appreciation of all the storms and waves of your own life.
We all surf together.
Sincerely
Tom Clarke
